Summer Recommended and Required Reading
The goal of reading over the summer is to:
- Increase students' reading scores
- provide opportunities for students who love reading
- prepare students to enter new grade levels with strongly suggested readings so students may make a deeper and wider connection to what they will be learning in class
- provide opportunities for conversations among teens and parents
- except for those marked as "required," these recommended summer reads have no assignments. Students will not be penalized for not reading; however, they will be able to add to class discussions and increase their self-confidence in these areas.
