Head of School/Principal Mew's Message - 8.08.20

Aloha kakou,
Immediately following today's Press Conference with Governor Ige and Superintendent Dr. Kishimoto, the following message was sent to all DOE Employees. Additional information will be disseminated at a later date from Kaiser High School to personalize the message because of the uniqueness of our situation. May I offer comments on each of the Phases:
First Phase, August 17-20, 2020.
A specific schedule for those four days is being developed.
The mandatory Distance Learning Drill, scheduled for August 10 and 11, now has added value.
Data and learnings from the Drill will allow us to make informed decisions regarding First Phase schedule and additional plans for the Second Phase.
Second Phase, August 24- Sept. 11, 2020.
A/B Daily Rotation (Distance Learning only).
Use standard Bell Schedule and original A/B Matrix.
Special Considerations for our vulnerable students, and those under Social-Economic Status.
Third Phase,(Sept. 14, 2020)
Depending on HIDOE decision on Sept. 8, 2020, Kaiser will:
Commence "A-Week" / "B-Week" Rotation, or
Continue with A/B Daily Rotation (Distance Learning only)
BE ADVISED that students who have committed to 100% Distance Learning with Acellus will begin on August 17th. The WebEx Event with me is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.

BE FURTHER ADVISED that Kaiser Athletics Fall Season has been postponed indefinitely. Athletic Director Chee will be providing follow up details at a later date.

Me ka 'oia'i'o
Sincerely,

Mr. Mew
