Head of School/Principal's Message

Aloha Kakou,

E Komo Mai, come in, and explore our school through the lens of this website. We are the pinnacle of the Kaiser Complex of Schools, united by one vision: A World CLASS Education for All.  CLASS is an acronym for C=Commitment. L=Leadership. A=Achievement. S=Stewardship. S=Service.

I am passionate about providing students with learning pathways to get a “leg up” on global competition for college admissions, scholarships, careers and citizenship. Our commitment is demonstrated through successful authorization to offer the world’s most rigorous and challenging college preparatory programme: The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The IB Diploma and coursework is recognized and accepted world-wide.  All Kaiser Freshmen and Sophomores are programmatically placed in the IB Middle Years Programme. Students may advance their international education in their upper classmen years through the IB Diploma Programme or through the IB Career-related Programme.

Kaiser Academics has been recognized as Hawaii’s most rigorous public high school due to our students taking on the rigorous assessments afforded by the IBDP and our Advance Placement (AP) course offerings/exams. We have a vibrant Leadership program, a rich offering of elective courses, and a diverse register of student organizations and clubs.

Kaiser Athletics fields all teams for which there is a state championship for both girls and boys. We are a member of the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) and regularly qualify athletes to compete in “states,” that is the Hawaii High School Athletic Association.

I believe firmly in holistic education. By requiring a holistic course of study for all Kaiser students, we exceed state graduation requirements while meeting international curricula.  In other words, students enroll in the Arts, World Language, Physical Education, and Technology in addition to the traditional “four core.”

To that belief, Kaiser Performing and Visual Arts provide courses and robust educational opportunities for students to engage fully in all IB programmes and develop their creative thinking skills.

Kaiser High students develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically in an environment conducive to their learning and teachers teaching. This is an environment like no other, grounded in the values of our host culture (Nā Hopena A`o), and located in Kona Oahu of Hawai’i nei, where international-mindedness, stewardship and service evolves and flourishes.

While our students, faculty and staff hail from across Planet Earth, “Cougar Country” includes the lands of Kalama and Kamehame, Kamiloiki and Kamilonui, Haha`ione, Kuli`ou`ou, and Niu. (‘O na `aina ‘o Kalama a me Kamehame, e Kamiloiki a me Kamilonui, Haha’ione, Kuli’ou’ou, a me Niu).

We are the Cougars of Henry J. Kaiser High School, Honolulu, Hawai’i, USA.  An International Baccalaureate World School, Accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges, Certified Nationally in AVID and AFJROTC, State certified in Career and Technical Education, and Home of the International award-winning Media Communications Learning Center.
